Hello everyone!
Thank you to all who wrote in, showed up and spoke out against the proposed “Recovery First” ordinance in San Francisco! After months of organizing and mobilization we are happy to announce that with the help of you (our amazing community of advocates), Supervisor Fielder’s office (special shoutout to Feng Han), and the SF Marin Medical Society the City Supervisors accepted all of our proposed amendments; Changing the definition of Recovery, adding in a breadth of treatment pathways, and a few other minor changes.
We still have work to do to strengthen harm reduction services, comprehensive treatment services and get leaders to commit to the importance of prevention services for fatal overdose, but this is a win to share with you all! Please share and read the press release HERE. And it’s not too late to sign the petition HERE; it will be shared with the full SF Board of Supervisors in two weeks.
With warm weekend wishes and thanks,
the HRTC Team
